Hawaii, in general, is known for its delicious seafood; especially the fish. During my time here, I wanted to get a chance to try the fresh fish for myself. The manager of the condo I was staying at suggested The Fish Market, so off I went.

At The Fish Market, fishermen come early to bring their freshest catches of the day. They have some of the best fish on the island, and here you can find the perfect meal for your lunch or dinner. For sale, you can take home live lobsters, cocktail platters, and even steaks. They will provide you with everything you need to make your very own, delicious Hawaiian cookout at home. Moreover, if you are not much of a cook but want to try the fish still, then no worries; you’ve come to the right place for a one of a kind dine-in ‘feast’ or a delicious take-home meal.

The Fish Market has everything on their menu from chowder to lobster, to crabs, to sandwiches, fish tacos, and burgers. They are also known for their fantastic seafood chowder bread bowl, which you really can’t come here without trying. There is seating inside and outside the restaurant.

When I arrived at The Fish Market, the first thing I noticed was the quaint atmosphere of the place. It was a little gem inside a strip of other stores. Outside there were places to sit and inside the restaurant, there were some bar stools to enjoy your meal.

I could not wait to try the Ono Burger, drawn to it the moment I saw it on the menu. Ono is a favorite fish in these seas, and I was eager to try this fun spin on it. When it came out, the Ono was served on an onion hamburger roll with coleslaw and chips. It was easily the best fish burger I’ve ever had.

I also ordered the Baja fish taco while I was at it. Obviously, my expectations for it were quite high after I tasted the spectacular Ono Burger, and I am happy to say that I was not disappointed. The lightly battered, flaky fish came topped with cabbage, Pico de gallo, and light, lime cream sauce, giving it an impressive kick and delightfully fresh taste.

Besides the food, the other great aspect of The Fish Market was the staff. Even though the place gets quite busy, the staff is friendly, and they continue to have smiles on their faces despite the quick pace. They will still get your food out quickly, and if they do not, it is still worth the wait. The staff makes for a lovely, Hawaiian atmosphere showing their Aloha spirit.

The only word to describe the Fish Market in Maui is ‘fresh’. Everything tasted super ‘new’, and you can be sure that whatever was caught that morning will be on your plate when you come in. Nothing is frozen or from the day before. I was more than happy that we came here and knew it would not be my last time.

If you want to try the meals for yourself, The Fish Market is open from 11 a.m to 7 p.m daily, but give yourself a good chunk of time to grab a seat here and enjoy all the food they have.
