Inside the Traveling Vixen’s Bag: Photography Gear

One of the primary investments that I made for my traveling adventures was to purchase proper photography equipment. This is paramount when you want to capture your adventures and memories to share with others. Being only an amateur photographer, I had to learn about DSLR camera’s and lenses. I also wanted to have the flexibility of a small travel camera that I could use underwater. There are several options to choose from, and it can be overwhelming for a newbie. So I needed a strategy to get started. The first thing I did was to check with my photography friends to find out their preferences of camera manufacturers. The second thing was to determine what type of photography I would be doing to determine the correct lens to purchase. After those two things, everything else was pretty straightforward.

So after a month of hard research of what type of equipment would be a good fit for me, this is what I finalized in my bag.

Nikon D5500

The Nikon D5500 weighs in at 14.9 ounces, has a touch screen display, 24 megapixels, built-in WI-FI, and HD video. I love how compact and lightweight this camera is which is just perfect for carrying on my adventures. The image quality is remarkable producing crisp, bright, and vibrant photos. This is a purchase I will never regret, and it is red!

Nikkor 18-55 Lens

This is an all-purpose lens with exceptional quality. I shoot mostly with this lens for cityscapes, landscapes, and miscellaneous other upclose musings.

This purchase happened because I wanted to be able to take great surf pictures from the beach. It produces photos with sharp focus and excellent characteristics.

The recording speed of this card is remarkable, and SanDisk has a great reputation. With this card, I can rest assured I will not miss recording an adventure.

GoPro Hero 4 Silver Edition

I love this camera! The picture and video quality is fantastic. This goes with me everywhere that I do not want to take my Nikon. It has been hiking, sailing, surfing, and snorkeling.

GoPro Red Glass Dive Filter

I just happened to run into an underwater photographer at lunch one day after sailing. He suggested that I purchase a red filter for my underwater photography. He explained that red is the first color lost underwater, and this is why underwater photos look nothing like it did to the eye. With the addition of a red filter on your camera when shooting in tropical waters, your pictures will deliver the accurate, vibrant color in your photos. So gone are the days of murky underwater photos!

This tripod is totally cool! Just as the name states, this tripod is completely bendable making it easy to wrap around benches, car doors, tree limbs, you name it. It is a great complement for my GoPro.

After I had purchased all of my great equipment, I needed something to put it in. This bag is light weighing barely three pounds, has tons of compartments, laptop compartment for my SP3, extra zippered storage, tripod holder, comfortable straps, and a twenty-five-year warranty. I can fit my SP3, Nikon with two lenses, GoPro with accessories, Sony HD videocam, tripod, big bendy tripod, selfie stick, and most importantly my makeup bag.

Taking photos to preserve and share your adventures is fun.To do so you need to have the right equipment. By investing some time and money, you will have a great camera gear bag to make sure you capture each moment as they happen. Investing in the right equipment will ensure your photos or videos are as perfect as when you saw them with your eye.
